Crypto Slang Explained: Diamond Hands, REKT, FUD, FOMO & MORE

What is Apeing in Crypto?

When cryptocurrency traders purchase a new token or currency soon after the project’s introduction, this is known as “apeing”. The nickname was created to describe the “low-IQ,” “monkey-like” conduct of impulsively making purchases.

Apeing traders frequently don’t conduct extensive due diligence before making a purchase. “Fear of missing out” often motivates these purchases (FOMO). Traders might think that if they wait to buy, they might miss out on possible rewards.

What is FUD in crypto?

FUD, an acronym for the emotions of “fear, uncertainty, and doubt,” is another piece of technical jargon that is frequently used in the cryptocurrency industry.

When it comes to a specific asset or market, the term itself alludes to a particularly gloomy outlook. It is a method of disseminating exaggeratedly negative information about a cryptocurrency and its future in order to foster an atmosphere of apprehension or fear.

When FUD Happens?

It might easily result from a firm underachieving its most recent earnings targets, such as when sales don’t meet expectations, subscriber growth is subpar, or when a well-known investor shorts the market.

FUD can also come from a bigger source, separate from direct human influence, like during pandemics or through natural calamities like hurricanes and tsunamis.

What about FOMO?

What Does FOMO Mean for the crypto investor?

When a person decides irrationally to trade or invest in a crypto asset based on some piece of information they have received without adequately checking its source and/or authenticity, this is known as FOMO in the crypto market.

FOMO in the cryptocurrency space causes people to sell assets at their lowest prices or even buy them at their greatest prices, as opposed to doing the opposite, which would be wiser. Crypto FOMO can occasionally have negative effects that are harsher and more pervasive than a loss of invested money; these effects can include familial estrangement, anxiety, and despair.

Risks to One’s Health from FOMO

A person’s mental state may be impacted when they lose trading cash in a poor investment, especially if it is a sizable sum.

This failure can then be seen in other areas of their lives, including their relationships with friends and family and other areas. If extra care isn’t done, the person begins to experience social decline and eventually develops a disorder.

The effect of FOMO in the cryptocurrency ecosystem has encouraged investment in a number of shitcoins.

Hodl

When giving a definition of HODL, it’s crucial to realize that the acronym stands for “hold on for dear life” and that the word is actually a misspelling of “hold.”

The phrase initially appeared in 2013 when a trader going by the name GameKyuubi posted “I AM HODLING” on the Bitcointalk forum before going on an extended rant about his trading approach. At the time, he was supposedly a little tipsy.
